AIR
Amstelstraat 16 (820 06 70). map
Club AIR is large (max capacity 1300) but intimate, with several areas in a flexible layout. On the former IT location, AIR has been designed from the ground up and the club sports state of the art sound and lighting systems and novelties like electronic lockers and a fully automated bar system. Thursdays are electro, Friday is techno and techno-house, while Saturdays see live shows by local and international talent.
Open Thu-Sun 11pm-4/5am.

Bitterzoet
Spuistraat 2 (623 13 80). map
Lively spacious bar-theatre-club close to Central Station, with DJ's, live music and the occasional performance. Bitterzoet stages lots of upcoming new talent, and leans towards the jazzy and world sounds. The club has a relaxed atmosphere, low admission fees, and moderately prices drinks, so this is definitely worth a visit!
Open daily 9pm-3am, Sat/Sun 11pm-4am.

Club Home
Wagenstraat 3 (620 13 75). map
Despite the fact that this is a pretty large club, Home indeed has a 'homey' feel to it. It is spread out on three levels, each with its own distinct atmosphere. You enter the club into the 'Living Room', with a fireplace, bookshelves and comfortable seating. First floor is the 'Bedroom' which is the lounge area, and downstairs in the basement is the main dance area, with live DJ's most of the nights.
Open Thu-Sun 11pm-4/5am.

Dansen Bij Jansen
Handboogstraat 11 (620 17 79). map
The city's student club. Various musical styles, although all on the safe side: disco, pop, house. Below is a small dance floor, with a quieter separate bar on the top floor. 'Student-only' means you need a valid student ID to get in. Jansen has a happy hour every night from 11pm-midnight. No dress restrictions.
Open daily 11pm-4am (weekends 5am).

De Duivel
Reguliersdwarsstraat 87 (626 61 84). map
Amsterdam's only hip-hop club, with rap and hip-hop beats and a crowd to match. Occasional live music during the weekends.
Open Thu-Sat 8pm-3/4am.

Escape
Rembrandtplein 11 (622 11 11). map
The Escape theater is one of the larger clubs in town with a capacity of well over 2,000. Most nights the venue is rented out to party organizers; check the flyers section to see what's going on. Despite its size, expect to queue. The notoriously selective door policy seems to have relaxed a little.
Open Thu-Sun 11pm-4/5am.

FlexBar
Pazzanistraat 1 (486 21 23). map
Slightly alternative club on the 'Westergasfabriek' grounds a bit out of City Center, with refreshingly open-minded programming. Flexbar consists of two interconnected spaces, so it is able to host two different events at the same time. Moderately priced drinks and snacks.
Open Thu-Sun 10pm-4am, 10pm-5am Fri-Sat.

Jimmy Woo
Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 18 (626 31 50). map
Hip club where ancient Hong-Kong mixes with modern design. Black is the dominant color here, with a large lounge area with black leather sofa's and a black bar, and the opium table is not missing of course. The dance floor is downstairs, with excellent lighting and sound system. Famous for its selective door policy; either you're on the guest list, or you join the endless queue hoping the door bitch will favor you.
Open Thu-Sun 11pm-3/4am.
